The Power of Community: Why Support Groups Matter
At some point in our lives, most of us will face challenges that feel overwhelming or isolating—whether it’s navigating intense emotions, managing a mental health diagnosis, or parenting a child with unique needs. In these moments, connection can be a lifeline. That’s where support groups come in.
Support groups provide a space to learn, share, and grow alongside others who truly understand what you're going through. While individual therapy is incredibly valuable, support groups offer something different: a sense of community, belonging, and the powerful reminder that you are not alone.
Let’s explore some of the key benefits of support groups—especially two we’re currently offering: a DBT Support Group and a Support Group for Parents of Children with ADHD.
DBT Support Group: Learn Skills, Build Resilience
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured, skills-based approach designed to help people manage overwhelming emotions, reduce impulsive behavior, and improve relationships. In our DBT Support Group, participants explore practical tools such as:
Wise Mind: Learning to balance emotion and logic for more grounded decision-making
DEAR MAN: A communication strategy for setting boundaries and asking for what you need
Distress Tolerance & Emotional Regulation: Techniques for staying centered in tough moments
The group format allows participants to practice these skills, ask questions, and support one another through real-life challenges. Whether you’re new to DBT or looking to reinforce what you’ve already learned, this group is a powerful way to build confidence and create meaningful change.
ADHD Parent Support Group: Laugh, Learn, and Feel Seen
Parenting a child with ADHD can be joyful, unpredictable, frustrating, and deeply rewarding—all at once. It often comes with unique challenges, like navigating emotional outbursts, managing executive function struggles, and feeling misunderstood by others who don't get what it's really like.
Our Support Group for Parents of Children with ADHD, led by an experienced therapist, offers a compassionate space to:
Share stories and strategies with other parents who truly understand
Learn tools to better support your child (and yourself)
Laugh about the chaos—because humor is healing, too
Build resilience and emotional support in a nonjudgmental setting
Parents often leave group sessions feeling more empowered, more hopeful, and far less alone.
Why Join a Support Group?
