Alyssa Hoyng
counselor trainee; (sHE/Her)
I believe that you are the master of your own world and it is my role as a counselor to walk alongside you in your journey to get to where you want to go.
My therapeutic style follows the wellness model; prioritizing your goals, values, and experience over your struggles. Working collaboratively, I meet my clients where they are at and help them to utilize their strengths to overcome obstacles and obtain what they desire. I am trained in cultural competency and strongly believe that our identities play a large role in the way we experience life.
My approach to therapy is grounded in a feminist theoretical lens. Feminist therapists believe that our individual struggles are intertwined with the world around us; therefore, we cannot confront individual issues without taking into account the impact our society and environment has on us. My passion for human rights and wellness drive my approach to counseling, especially with the uncertainty of the state of the world we face today.
I help clients through life transitions, identity development, stress management, and a variety of other struggles using an integrated theoretical approach. I strongly believe that diagnoses do not define us; we are more than our struggles. Let me walk alongside you in this journey we call life, helping you identify and utilize the strength, power, and resilience I know is already within you.
